Hello folks
A few weeks ago, I received a special invitation that led me to the picturesque town of Bicester. Having never set foot in Bicester before, I saw this as a wonderful opportunity to explore the town and learn something new. What added a unique twist to the experience was that the event was hosted at a charming resort – a rarity in the UK. With a sense of anticipation and excitement, I eagerly accepted the invitation, not entirely certain of what the day held in store for me.
The day began with warm introductions and icebreakers, setting the stage for a day filled with collaboration and bonding. Our group was a diverse mix, consisting of administrators, nurses, physiotherapists, and more. The day's theme was inspired by the Honey Badger spirit, a suggestion from one of our Australian team members.
The Honey Badger, an animal surprisingly found in India, served as a symbol for our team – a creature known for its resilience, adaptability to various environments, thick skin, fierce loyalty, and unwavering determination. To capture the essence of this spirit, one of our artistic colleagues even crafted an adorable Honey Badger illustration.
One of the most delightful highlights of the day was our collective effort in building what we called the "Tower of Kindness." This masterpiece was created using everyday table essentials such as water bottles, charts, and plaster. The precision and teamwork required for this task served as a beautiful metaphor for the importance of precision in resuscitation procedures, and it resulted in a breathtakingly tall tower that stood proudly in our midst.
However, the day wasn't solely about activities. It was a shared journey of learning and growth. We delved into various problem statements, not only offering solutions to our own challenges but also extending a helping hand to other teams. The positive atmosphere, coupled with delightful food and snacks, made the entire experience even more enjoyable and heartwarming.
Lunchtime was particularly special. It provided a refreshing break from the high-pressure atmosphere of the Emergency Department with its rigid targets. Sitting down to brainstorm ideas with these brilliant minds felt like an oasis of creativity and connection.
One exercise stood out in particular – a table exercise where we discussed and wrote down our thoughts on why we believed the system was broken within our teams. Then, everyone rotated and anonymously shared their insights on others' challenges. What touched my heart was that my ideas were well-received, even when they were presented without my face and voice attached to them. It was a poignant reminder of the importance of truly listening and valuing each other's perspectives.
As the day unfolded, I had the privilege of witnessing some teams likening themselves to a wolf pack, with one leader and the rest seamlessly following. This dynamic, where each member intuitively knew their role and performed it with grace, was a touching demonstration of the power of effective teamwork.
In conclusion, my day at the Bicester bootcamp was a journey filled with personal growth, deep connections, and the creation of cherished memories. It reminded me of the profound impact that collaboration can have and the incredible potential that emerges when diverse minds and hearts come together.
Here's to more adventures and learning experiences ahead on this beautiful journey of life!
With heartfelt cheers to a day of growth, teamwork, and lasting memories in Bicester! 🌟 #TeamMDT
