Passing Exam after Hattrick of Failures

Hey people I cleared my RCEM intermediate /SAQ exam. Good 10 days late in sharing the blog. It took me some time to put my mind together to jot down this post. The number of thoughts in words couldnt sync so it took a while. I jot down my failures and successes in this blog to optimise my mood.  I did not celebrate my success. Honestly, it was more of relief than happiness. I am immensely thankful to the almighty for my failures, as they helped me optimize my lifestyle.  November 2020 was the first time I failed an exam in 27 years of my life despite preparing well.I failed with a handful of marks. It took me good time to digest it. I still cut a cake to celebrate it. That was the first time I took a while and reviewed my life. I took a while to wait and blame the thing that caused my failure, I could see my anxiety tall and stout. I worked on controlling my exam anxiety.  March 2021 , I failed again. this time it was the exam , it was pretty tough for average...

Exhausting Virtual Conference-athon

Hello everybody It's been a while that I have written something on my blog. This time I have a valid reason . I was trying to absorb... Absorb knowledge from all over the world absorb best practices from all over the world listen to people from all over the world. Thanks to the pandemic most of the conferences went online and we had this opportunity to listen to the best speakers across the world virtually and economically , otherwise we'd have to spend lofty amounts just to go to a place to listen to somebody.  People who are in their residency will totally empathize and sympathize with the fact that somebody would have to let go of a conference to attend the other and the choice to pick which one would be difficult. The cold wars amongst the colleagues as to who finally goes to the conference would be never ending. The stress of accommodation to travel to food would be a different thing altogether. The fear of missing out good lectures versus the form of visiting ...

Hattrick of flunking same exam

Hello all, While the stock market and the cryptomarket is on bull run. My academics seem to be having bearish trend. Some of my colleagues text to show their condolences like somebody died . I swear if I could share it here , you would be as surprised as I am. But if you understand the growth curve of any growing firm or individual, you have bearish and bullish trends , one leads to another.  I really can't wait to see where this 📉 📈 takes me. Its not mortal to have upward trajectory all through your life. You need to fall/ pause to fuel up and start running.  Beware if somebody is promising you anything otherwise.  So here I am signing off , going back to study what I intend to practice for rest of my sane life with intention to hit to the next level. So far So much!

Turning 28 , What past year taught me...

Hello people  I have been wanting to write this article for a while now. It's not that I figured out everything in life but I definitely think I have moved a step further in my life. So learning one thing at a time. So , the stuff I have learned over past one year is so much that I cannot total it with stuff that I have learned in past 4 years on whole. Here are some major things. 1. Say No .  The easiest word to spell after the word " I ", but most difficult to put across. It was very difficult when I said it for the first time but as I began practicing it it became easier and easier and I felt better and better. Still working on it. 2. All Ears For an extrovert like me the most difficult or challenging thing has been to listen. A harsh critic that I am ,I could zero down that I am a bad listener. I looked over it to go back see it and started working on listening , on what people have to say without taking my input, however the crappy the idea was to let the...

RCEM Annual Virtual Conference : My experience

Hello people  I have been attending these conferences very mindfully. I would want to discuss this one as I think would be useful to other emergency physicians looking to update themselves with advancement and emergency departments. We work as teams in emergency department. The teams grow by lifting each other. So here is the first step.  Today, will be discussing the Royal College of Emergency medicines annual scientific conference 2021. What was it ?  Annual scientific conference for an emergency medicine by Royal College of Emergency medicine . This was scheduled between 5-7th October 2021. How do you get there?  1)You'll buy tickets from the website How much do I pay? you pay them but there are good discounts ,if you're a  student / consultant or if you belong to low or middle income countries. They also have scholarships for annual scientific conference the scholarships gives you free access to the conference and free entry into one of the pre-...

Standford 's COVID19 Training course . To take it or leave it?

Hello people We are all learners from Womb to Tomb , since I am done with my not so wow exam . I decided not only to let my mind learn new things but also brush on things I already know. The free course from Stanford is something I stumbled upon.  Why Honestly, I enrolled because it was from The Stanford University of Medicine. It seemed like a well paced course. It's always great to be prepared before the third wave 🌊 hits the shores.    Duration My experience has been good. Having completed my residency and working in the pandemic I found the difficulty decent. It took me about a week to complete. I didn't want to rush through the course as I didn't want to lose the essence. In between shifts and other curious activities. If you're ON it day and night you can complete it in 2 days. I watched the video on 2x.  Who all can take it ?  All healthcare workers . Doctor s , nurses and paramedical staff. Works better if you're dealing with COVID 19 patients. Fresh gr...

"I want to join emergency medicine because ... " The intern exclaimed.

Hello everybody  I'm back yet again with an innocent encounter that I'd like to share ! You can call us as the withdrawal writing because I've been away from my blog for quite a long time and now I can't stop!  My blogs about emergency medicine have a decent exposure making me "go to person" to anybody who is interested to join emergency medicine. This blog is one of such conversation I have had. A friend of mine connected me to her cousin who wanted to join emergency medicine .She said her cousin was quite interested in emergency medicine and thought I would be the right person to help and guide her. I might not be the best person but I do whatever I can to help her , I reassured her. The Fresh med school pass out had just started her internship. I immediately started explaining her the options she can opt non-stop for about a minute and then I realized she was puzzled.  I realized I was too fast and went back to the ABC approach.I would found t...

" Consulting a psychiatrist would be a question mark on my spirituality " Said the patient.

Hello everybody  I hope everybody is safe and healthy. it's been a while that I've been receiving lot of patients in the emergency with mental illness ,thought of sharing an incident of its kind. Not sure if its the awareness of mental health these days or the pandemic, I am developing keen interest in patients with mental illness .I try to take an extra effort to make them feel comfortable and try to create an insight of what is happening and offer them options of what all can be done.  Since this it seems like a step towards patient care , I thought I'd share it here as well. This would probably not be the best approach but I welcome any type of constructive criticism , additions or subtraction to my approach because end of the day we are here for best patient care. A 50 years plus old gentleman ,presented to the emergency with the complaints of chest pain radiating to left arm , breathing difficulty, choking sensation in the throat, inability to open his ey...

Thoughts after not So WOW exam

Hello people! Long time, no see !probably because I was slogging for this exam for 2 -3months now. That huge hiatus because this would be the third time I was attempting this exam. That zeal you have when you want something really bad and do it or die kind of feel. " Okay, I'm going to do it no matter what... Everything is secondary this is the priority I'm looking for.  Everything else in the world is a distraction.  All my plans after 14th September." Well ,the world kept going , The days went on rolling my plans kept postponing.  I don't know if it's just me or if anybody else in the world thinks this way that you know you live your life no matter what and the very next moment you like all I'm going to do is study for this exam and nothing else is going to matter. The hypocrisy  we have with our mind of what is to be done and what not is to be done. So yes the obvious reason why I'm being philosophical is because my exam hasn't been ...

Professional Growth Spurts in EM

Hey all Once you're done with your residency . Things appear differently. Some people have a distant vision about such things while some realise at the moment. Nevertheless, the struggle is more or less the same. Remember going through growth spurts as a child? The too-short pant legs were embarrassing, but the achy limbs and joints made it miserable. Just like when you were a teen and all your comfortable clothes would no longer fit. These are tough adjustments “growing pains,” and they can throw your career way off its trajectory if you aren’t prepared to face them. While moving out of your parent institution is great, not everything is sunshine and roses. You can experience these growth spurts fast or slow. Some people are lucky enough to choose the pace. Some people have no choice but to give in. Confusion , Reduced morale, Unclear priorities , A decrease in productivity is very common.Sudden changes from one organization to another organization can lead to discomfo...
